Setup Linksys Router: Setting up Linksys routers with a Cable Internet Service can be done either by the installation Disc or manually configuring router’s settings.
QUICK TIP: To make sure your Internet connection type you have, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
QUICK TIP: To reconfigure a old router, reset the router to factory defaults. To do this, press and hold the Reset button of your router for 10 seconds.
Step 1: Verifying that Internet connection is active : Connect the computer to the Cable modem using an Ethernet cable. If you have an internet access, you may proceed to the next step. Otherwise, contact your ISP.
Step 2: Connect the Cable modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Step 3: Connect a computer to any of the router’s numbered ports (1, 2, 3 or 4). and Connect the power adapter of your router to the power outlet.
Step 4: Access the router’s web-based setup page. Open any web browser and enter “192.168.1.1” in the address bar then press [Enter].
Step 5: You will then be asked for your login details. Enter the User name “admin” and enter “admin” in the Password field then click OK.
Step 6: Setup Wireless Password
You should now be able to access the Internet. If not, power-cycle the modem, the router, then the computer.
